Corporate & Employee Relocation Moving

A job relocation has two customers: the employee whose life is being moved and the employer who needs that transition handled professionally. HHG Movers provides household-goods moving, packing and storage for employer-supported relocations into, out of and across South Georgia—without pretending to be a relocation management company.

Start With Your Role

Corporate relocation works differently depending on who is managing the move. Pick your role and we'll show you the right first steps, questions and HHG handoff.

Employee Path

You need to know your benefit before you choose your moving plan.

Your first job is not picking boxes or a truck. Find out how your employer is supporting the relocation, because a lump sum, reimbursement program, direct-paid move and RMC-managed move create different next steps.

1 · GET THE POLICYAsk HR what is covered, what requires approval, who chooses the mover and who pays.
2 · IDENTIFY YOUR BENEFITLump sum? Reimbursement? Employer direct-pay? RMC-managed? Self-paid?
3 · SHOW HHG THE REAL MOVEInventory, dates, origin/destination, packing, storage and specialty items.
4 · MATCH THE QUOTE TO THE BENEFITGet the written moving scope and any documentation your employer requires.
5 · MOVE WITHOUT LOSING FOCUSHHG handles the physical household move while you focus on the job and family transition.
Ask HR before calling movers
  • What is my relocation benefit?
  • Do I choose the mover?
  • Is preapproval required?
  • Who signs and who pays?
  • What documents must I submit?
  • Are packing and storage covered?
Bring HHG
  • Origin and destination
  • Desired move dates
  • Household inventory
  • Packing needs
  • Storage/closing gap
  • Employer/RMC requirements
Employer / HR Path

Define the benefit. Let HHG run the household-moving lane.

The strongest relocation programs create clarity for the employee while reducing administrative drag on HR. You do not need HHG to become your entire mobility department; you need a dependable household-goods carrier with a clear handoff.

1 · AUTHORIZEIdentify the employee, approved service level, spending rules and authorized company contact.
2 · INTRODUCEConnect HHG with the employee so we can review the household directly.
3 · SCOPEHHG develops the moving scope and written estimate/quote around the real inventory and timeline.
4 · APPROVEConfirm payment/documentation requirements before the move—not during settlement.
5 · EXECUTEHHG communicates with the employee on moving details and keeps the agreed company contact in the loop.
Tell HHG
  • Who is eligible/authorized
  • What services are approved
  • Any spending cap or policy limit
  • Who approves changes
  • Who pays HHG
  • Required PO/vendor/invoice process

Coordinator / RMC / Recruiter Path

Establish authority first. Then create a clean three-way handoff.

If you are arranging the move for someone else, the biggest risk is unclear decision-making. HHG needs to know who can authorize services and payment, while the employee still needs a direct voice in inventory, access, dates and household details.

1 · DEFINE YOUR ROLERecruiter, executive assistant, administrator, RMC, owner or other authorized contact.
2 · IDENTIFY AUTHORITYWho can approve price/scope changes? Who signs? Who pays?
3 · CONNECT THE EMPLOYEEHHG works directly with the person who knows the household and move-day realities.
4 · SET REPORTINGAgree on what quote, invoice, status or documentation the coordinator needs.
5 · KEEP ONE SOURCE OF TRUTHChanges flow through the agreed contacts so employee, coordinator and HHG stay aligned.

A Household Move With a Business Reason

Employee Relocation Is Not the Same Thing as Moving an Office

Corporate or employee relocation moves the employee's household because of work. Commercial moving relocates the business itself—desks, equipment, files and workplace assets. HHG can handle both types of moving, but they are different projects.

Employee Relocation

Household goods, furniture, packing, storage and delivery for a person or family moving because of a new job, transfer, promotion or employer-directed relocation.

Commercial Moving

Moving the employer's office, facility, furniture, equipment or other business property. For that work, use HHG's Commercial Moving service.

HHG handles the physical household move—not the employee's entire relocation benefit.

We can coordinate moving, packing and storage with the employee and authorized employer contact. We do not determine tax treatment, write employer relocation policy, sell homes, choose schools, provide immigration advice or decide which expenses the employer reimburses.

Simple Workflow

One Move. Clear Roles.

1

Confirm Benefit

Employee confirms what the employer approves, who pays and any required paperwork/provider rules.

2

Review Move

HHG reviews household inventory, origin/destination, dates, packing, storage and specialty items.

3

Written Quote

HHG provides the appropriate written estimate/quote for the actual household move.

4

Coordinate

Employee remains the move-day contact unless another arrangement is established; employer contact receives agreed documentation.

5

Move & Settle

HHG packs if requested, transports the household, delivers and places agreed goods at destination.

Know the Benefit Model

“My Company Is Paying” Can Mean Five Very Different Things

Leading mobility programs use different benefit structures because employees, roles and budgets are not identical. Before HHG builds the moving plan, identify which lane you are actually in.

Benefit ModelWhat It Usually Means for the EmployeeWhat HHG Needs to Know
Self-directed / self-paidYou choose and pay the mover yourself, even though the move is job-related.HHG works directly with you like a normal household move.
Lump sumThe employer gives you a fixed relocation amount and you generally make spending choices within the employer's rules.Whether you pay HHG directly, any documentation you need, and which services you want to prioritize within your budget.
ReimbursementYou may pay approved moving expenses and submit required documentation to your employer afterward.Any preapproval, receipt, invoice or vendor requirements you must satisfy before service.
Employer direct-payThe company authorizes some or all of the household move and pays the approved vendor under its process.Authorized contact, approved scope, billing requirements and who can approve changes.
RMC / managed programA relocation management company or mobility team coordinates benefits and approved suppliers on the employer's behalf.Program authorization, supplier requirements, contacts and whether HHG can participate under that program.

Do not spend first and ask whether it was covered later.

If your move is employer-supported, confirm eligibility, approvals and documentation before authorizing services. HHG can explain our moving charges; only your employer or its relocation administrator can tell you what your benefit will pay or reimburse.

Employee Path

You Have a New Job. You Shouldn't Also Have to Become a Moving Expert.

Start with your employer's written relocation benefit. Some companies directly arrange household-goods service; others reimburse approved expenses or provide a lump sum. Do not assume a moving expense is covered until your employer confirms it.

Moving Into South Georgia

HHG can be the destination mover for employees relocating to Valdosta, Tifton, Albany and surrounding service areas, including households moving here from another state.

Moving Out for Work

If your new position takes you from South Georgia to another Georgia market or across state lines, HHG can review the long-distance household move directly.

Dates Don't Line Up

A start date, closing date and move-in date rarely care about one another. Packing and temporary storage can be built into the moving plan when needed.

Before you book: ask HR four questions.

Who chooses the mover? Who signs the moving agreement? Who pays HHG? What services/amounts are actually approved? Get those answers in writing so the moving plan fits the benefit.

Employer / HR Path

The Moving Company Becomes Part of the Employee Experience

A relocation is attached to recruiting, retention and the employee's first impression of a new role. The household-goods portion should be organized enough that HR does not spend the week answering truck questions.

One Employee

Need to bring a new hire into South Georgia or transfer an existing employee? HHG can work with the employee and designated employer contact on the approved household moving scope.

Repeat Relocations

Employers with recurring South Georgia relocation needs can discuss a repeatable process for requesting estimates, identifying approved contacts and coordinating household moves.

Direct Documentation

We can provide written moving estimates/quotes and normal transaction documentation so the employer can process the move according to its own approval and reimbursement procedures.

Employee Communication

HHG can communicate directly about inventory, access, packing, dates and move-day details while keeping the authorized company contact involved as agreed.

What HHG Can Provide

Build the Household Move Around the Employee's Actual Situation

Full-Service Moving

HHG truck, professional crew, furniture handling, home protection and transportation for local and longer-distance household moves.

Packing

Full or partial packing when the employer benefit or employee budget includes professional packing support.

Temporary Storage

Climate-controlled warehouse storage can bridge closing, construction, lease and start-date gaps.

Interstate Moving

HHG is a carrier, not a broker. We can quote qualifying interstate household moves rather than selling the job to an unknown mover.

Specialty Items

Pianos, artwork, antiques, exercise equipment and other large/heavy household items can be reviewed under HHG's normal service limits.

Labor-Only Options

When an employee uses a rental truck, POD or container under the relocation benefit, HHG can provide labor-only service within our service model.

Three Distance Scenarios

The Quote Should Match the Move

Move TypeHow HHG Handles ItEmployer / Employee Should Know
Local Georgia · 50 miles or lessMost HHG local full-service moves are typically hourly with a 2-hour minimum. Current standard crew planning rates are $224/hr for 3 movers and $295/hr for 4 movers.Confirm whether the employer benefit has a cap, approved service list or direct-payment/reimbursement requirement.
Georgia · more than 50 milesHHG provides a written flat-rate quote after reviewing the actual move. Final billing is not determined from a shipment scale ticket.Inventory, access, packing, storage and destination details need to be accurate so the written scope reflects the move.
InterstateHHG reviews the household and provides the applicable written flat-rate quote. HHG performs the move as the carrier rather than brokering it.Employer policy and federal interstate moving requirements both matter. The employee should receive/read applicable moving documents and consumer information.
Relocation Situations

Real Moves Rarely Fit a Perfect Corporate Checklist

New Hire Coming to Town

The employee may be coordinating a new job, unfamiliar city, home search and household move at the same time. HHG can own the physical moving portion.

Internal Transfer

An existing employee may need a predictable move with clear company approvals and minimal disruption between old and new roles.

Executive / High-Touch Move

When packing, specialty belongings, storage or tighter coordination matter, HHG can scope a higher-touch household moving plan without inventing services outside our capabilities.

Lump-Sum Relocation

If the employer gives the employee a fixed relocation allowance and lets them choose the mover, HHG can quote the move directly. The employee remains responsible for understanding the employer's reimbursement/tax rules.

Reimbursement Move

When the employee pays and submits documentation, confirm required approvals and receipts with HR before booking—not after the move.

Closing / Temporary Housing Gap

If the employee starts work before the new home is ready, HHG can discuss warehouse storage and later delivery of household goods.

Important Boundaries

What HHG Is—and Is Not—in a Corporate Relocation

We Are the Household-Goods Mover

HHG can estimate, pack, move, store and deliver household goods within the agreed service scope.

We Are Not an RMC

HHG does not claim to manage the employer's entire mobility program, home-sale benefits, temporary-housing vendors, immigration, payroll or tax gross-up.

Employer Policy Controls Benefits

HHG cannot promise an employee that a charge is reimbursable. The employee/employer should confirm approved expenses, provider rules and payment process before authorizing work.

Tax Questions Belong With the Right Advisor

Employer-paid relocation can have tax consequences. HHG provides moving documentation; HR, payroll and qualified tax professionals determine tax treatment.

Why HHG

A South Georgia Carrier an Employer Can Actually Verify

South Georgia Offices

HHG operates from Valdosta, Tifton and Albany, giving employers a local relationship for moves tied to South Georgia jobs.

Moving + Storage

When employment and housing timelines disagree, the moving company and storage solution can remain under one HHG relationship.

Written Scope

Video walkthrough is the standard and preferred estimate method. In-person estimates are available when video isn’t practical or when HHG Movers determines an on-site review makes sense.

The Human Side

The Employee Is Starting a Job. The Household Is Starting a New Life.

The strongest relocation programs treat the move as more than transportation. HHG's lane is household goods, but a good moving plan should recognize the pressures happening around it.

Family Timing

School calendars, a spouse/partner's work, childcare and family commitments can affect the best packing, pickup and delivery dates. Tell us the timing constraints that affect the physical move.

Housing Isn't Ready

If the employee must report to work before the permanent home is available, temporary storage can separate the job start date from the household delivery date.

Productivity Matters

A poorly coordinated household move competes with onboarding and the employee's attention. Clear inventory, dates, contacts and approvals reduce avoidable moving-day friction.

High-Touch Doesn't Mean Vague

Executive or high-priority relocations still need a written scope, clear decision makers and realistic access/timing. Better service starts with more clarity, not fewer details.

Choice Within the Benefit

If the employer gives the employee flexibility, HHG can help separate must-have moving services from optional packing/storage choices so the employee can make an informed decision.

One Moving Contact

For the HHG portion, the employee should know who to call. We establish the moving contacts rather than sending household questions back through a chain of unrelated people.

FAQ

Corporate & Employee Relocation Questions

What is an employee relocation move?

It is a household move connected to employment—a new hire, transfer, promotion or other work-related relocation. The employer may pay all, part or none of the moving expense depending on its policy.

Is corporate relocation the same as an office move?

No. Employee relocation moves a worker's household. Commercial/office moving relocates the business's own furniture, equipment and workplace assets.

Can an employer hire HHG Movers directly for an employee?

Potentially, yes. We can coordinate the approved household move with the employer and employee. Before booking, establish who is authorized to approve the scope, sign documents and make payment.

Can the employee hire HHG and get reimbursed?

That depends entirely on the employer's relocation policy. The employee should confirm provider requirements, spending limits, preapproval and documentation requirements with HR before booking.

Does HHG offer direct billing to companies?

Payment arrangements for employer-sponsored moves should be established and approved before the move. Contact HHG with the employer's requirements so we can determine the appropriate arrangement.

Can HHG move an employee into South Georgia from another state?

Yes, qualifying interstate household moves can be reviewed by HHG. We are a carrier rather than a broker, and the actual origin, destination, inventory and service needs determine the quote.

Can HHG move an employee from South Georgia to another state?

Yes, qualifying interstate relocations originating in our service area can be quoted based on the actual household and destination.

Can you pack the employee's household?

Yes. Full or partial packing can be included when requested and approved within the relocation budget/scope.

What if the employee starts work before the new house is ready?

HHG can discuss climate-controlled warehouse storage and later delivery so the household-goods timeline does not have to perfectly match the employee's start date.

Does HHG determine which relocation expenses are taxable?

No. Tax treatment belongs with the employer, payroll and qualified tax advisors. HHG supplies moving services and normal transaction documentation.

Does HHG create corporate relocation policies?

No. We can explain our moving services and what information we need to execute a household move, but the employer controls its benefits, eligibility, reimbursement and policy decisions.

Can HHG work with a relocation management company?

If an RMC or other authorized coordinator wants to use HHG for a South Georgia household move, contact us with the program/vendor requirements and scope. We can determine whether the relationship and move fit our operation.

Can a company use HHG for several employee moves?

Yes. Employers with repeat relocation needs can discuss a consistent request/communication process rather than starting from zero with each employee.

How does HHG price a local employee move?

Most local full-service moves are typically hourly with a 2-hour minimum. Current standard planning rates are $224/hr for 3 movers and $295/hr for 4 movers. The written estimate and actual agreed scope control the job.

How does HHG price Georgia 50+ mile and interstate relocations?

HHG provides a written flat-rate quote after reviewing the move. We do not determine the final household-goods bill from a shipment scale ticket.

What should HR send HHG to start?

Provide the employee/contact information, approximate origin and destination, desired timing, who is authorized to approve/pay, and the moving services the employer intends to cover. HHG can then coordinate the inventory/estimate process with the appropriate person.

Make the Move Feel Like Part of the Job Offer—not Another Problem.

Whether you're the employee packing for a new opportunity or the employer bringing talent to South Georgia, HHG can take responsibility for the household moving piece and keep the process understandable.
