We Need to Know How It Gets Out — and How It Gets Back In
A 700-pound safe beside a garage door is a different job from the same safe behind three tight turns. A pool table on a slab is different from one upstairs. Specialty moving is really a combination of weight, dimensions, access and destination.
Weight
Heavy items change manpower, equipment and how the piece can safely cross thresholds or flooring.
Dimensions
Measure the item and the narrowest doors, hallways and turns. Inches matter when the piece barely fits.
Access
Stairs, slopes, gravel, soft yards, tight corners and long carries can completely change the plan.
Destination
Getting it out is not enough. We also need a safe route into the exact room or placement area at the other end.

Pianos
Pianos are a specialty of their own. HHG Movers handles many upright, console, baby grand and grand piano moves when the access is appropriate. We do not move pianos up or down stairs.

No Hoisting
We do not hoist furniture or equipment through windows, balconies or elevated openings.
No Safes Upstairs
We do not move safes up or down stairs. Ground-level safe moves may be possible with appropriate access.
No Pianos Upstairs
We do not move pianos up or down stairs. Ground-level and appropriate-access piano moves can be reviewed.
No Hot Tubs
HHG Movers does not move hot tubs or spas.

Safe moves should be planned before the crew arrives. The safe itself matters, but so do the floor, doorway, thresholds and path to the truck.
Before a Safe Move
- Remove firearms, ammunition and valuables
- Empty the safe before the crew arrives
- Have it unbolted from the floor or structure
- Tell us the approximate weight if known
- Show every threshold, turn and step on the route
- Confirm both origin and destination are ground-level routes
Why the Floor Matters
A very heavy safe concentrates a lot of weight in a small footprint. Tile, hardwood, transitions, soft ground and steep approaches can affect whether the move is practical and how it should be handled.
Moving a Pool Table Is Usually a Disassembly Job First
Pool tables can be large, heavy and sensitive to how they are taken apart and handled. Show us the table, room and access so we can determine the scope before quoting it.
Identify the Table
Show the full table and tell us the size and manufacturer if you know it.
Show the Access
Include doors, turns, hallways and any steps between the table and loading area.
Discuss Reassembly
If disassembly and reassembly are needed, make sure they are specifically included in the scope before moving day.
Sometimes the Fastest Way Out Is to Take It Apart
Treadmills, racks and strength equipment are often too wide or awkward to move assembled. When practical, disassembly can turn an impossible doorway into a straightforward move.
Treadmills & Cardio
Show the model, stairs or turns, and whether the machine folds or separates.
Racks & Strength Equipment
Remove plates and loose weights before the crew arrives. Larger systems may need partial disassembly.
Commercial Gym Pieces
Commercial cardio and strength equipment should be reviewed individually because size, weight and disassembly vary widely.
Disconnect It Before We Move It
Movers move the appliance. Customers or qualified trades should handle utility connections that require plumbing, gas, electrical or building-system work.
Refrigerators & Freezers
Empty the contents and disconnect water lines before moving day when applicable.
Washers & Dryers
Water, gas and other utility connections should be disconnected before the crew moves the appliance.
Commercial Equipment
Equipment should be disconnected, unbolted and ready to move unless another arrangement is specifically included in the quote.
We Price the Job We Can See
A “safe move” is not one universal price. Neither is a pool table, treadmill or commercial machine. The item and the path determine the work.
We do not use a generic “bulky item fee” as a substitute for looking at the job. Show us the item and access so the manpower, equipment and scope can be planned before moving day.
Do Not Just Film the Item
The best specialty-item walkthrough follows the entire route from the item to the truck — and, when possible, shows the destination route too.
Show the Item
Film all sides. Include the manufacturer label, dimensions or model information when useful.
Walk the Route
Show doors, halls, turns, thresholds, steps, slopes and the narrowest areas.
Show Truck Access
Film the driveway, parking area, gate and distance between the building and loading position.
Tell Us What Changes
Tell us whether the item is bolted down, filled, assembled, disconnected or needs special placement.
You Do Not Need a Whole-House Move to Call HHG Movers
Sometimes the entire job is one safe, one pool table, one treadmill or one oversized piece. Other times the specialty item is part of a larger household or commercial move. Either way, tell us about it before the crew is assigned.

One difficult piece from one location to another can be reviewed as its own job.
Part of a Home Move
Show the specialty item during the household walkthrough so it is built into the crew and equipment plan.
Commercial Project
Large office, school, retail or commercial pieces can be included when they fit our capabilities and project scope.
Questions to Answer Before Somebody Starts Lifting
Does HHG Movers move gun safes?
Yes, many ground-level safe moves are within our capabilities when the weight and access are appropriate. The safe must be emptied and unbolted before moving. We do not move safes up or down stairs.
Do you move pool tables?
Yes, many pool tables can be moved. Show us the table and access so we can determine whether disassembly and reassembly should be included in the job.
Do you move pianos?

How do you price a large-item move?
Pricing depends on the item, manpower, equipment, access, distance and whether HHG Movers is providing the truck. Labor-only is $195 per hour for 3 movers or $295 per hour for 4 movers, with a 3-hour minimum.
Why do you need a video?
The video lets us see the item and the route before moving day. On a specialty move, a narrow doorway, stair, threshold or slope can matter as much as the item itself.
What if the item will not fit through the doorway?
Show us the measurements and access before moving day. If safe disassembly can solve the problem, that can be discussed. HHG Movers will not plan on hoisting an item or removing part of the building to make it fit.
Can you move commercial heavy items?
Yes, when the item is movable, properly disconnected or unbolted, and within our equipment and access capabilities. Show the item during the commercial walkthrough.
