In plain terms (the official booklet controls)
- Verbal quotes are not estimates. Estimates must be written, dated, and signed.
- Binding estimate: you should not pay more than that amount at delivery for what was on the estimate.
- Non-binding estimate: at delivery you cannot be required to pay more than 110% of the estimate to get your goods. The rest can be billed after 30 days.
- Default protection is Full Value Protection unless you waive it in writing for released value (60 cents per pound per article).
- File loss, damage, or delay claims in writing with us promptly.
- If a mover will not release the shipment after you pay what federal rules require, that can be a hostage load — a federal violation.
