Employee relocation in South Georgia

HR is hiring a plant manager from Ohio, a hospitalist from Jacksonville, or a faculty member from Atlanta. The employee needs a written number and a crew that already works these three cities. HHG Movers is the local licensed company. We invoice the employer or the employee — you choose.

We are not a national relocation-management company. We are the mover on the ground: video quote, dedicated or local truck, labor-only if the employee already rented a truck, warehouse if the house closes late. USDOT 2792009 · GA HHG8757 · MC 86750.

What employers usually buy

Written quote same day after inventory or video

Local with our truck from $672 (packed, easy access). Dedicated truck from $2,200 (50+ miles). Labor-only $195/hr for 3 movers if the employee is on a lump-sum and rented the truck. Full pricing guide.

How companies usually pay (pick one)

1. Employer pays us directly

PO or card on file. We send the written quote to HR and the employee. Best when policy says “company-arranged move.” One invoice, one W-2 question for your payroll team.

2. Lump-sum to the employee

Employee books labor-only or our truck. They keep the unused dollars. We honor the published labor rate on standard dates if they send this site. Good for mid-level hires who want control.

3. Cap / reimbursement

Employee pays, submits our invoice up to a cap. We itemize so AP is not guessing.

What a sane small-company policy covers

  • Household move (our truck or labor on their rental)
  • Up to 30 days storage if closing slips
  • One-way for the family or a house-hunting weekend (you book travel; we do not)
  • Packing of kitchen / glass only, unless it is an executive package
  • Written quote before deposit — no “we will see on the driveway”

You do not need a Cartus-style program for one hire a quarter. You need a licensed local mover and a one-page policy.

Tax reality HR has to say out loud

For most civilian employees, employer-paid moving costs are taxable wages. The old moving-expense exclusion is gone for typical private-sector hires. Active-duty military PCS remains the main exception. Confirm with your CPA — do not use this page as tax advice.

If you gross-up the tax, say so in the offer letter. If you do not, tell the employee the W-2 will include the move so they are not surprised in February.

Employee checklist (when the company is paying)

  1. Get the benefit in writing: cap vs full move, packing yes/no, storage days.
  2. Send us a 60-second video of the origin house and where the truck parks.
  3. We return a written hourly or flat rate the same day.
  4. HR approves. 10% holds the date.
  5. We load, haul, or labor-only. Invoice matches the quote unless you add rooms.

New to Valdosta / Albany / Tifton: schools and housing sit with the employee. We move the household. Moody and MCLB families use the military pages above if the employer is the government.

Why HR in this region uses a local mover

  • Three offices — Valdosta, Tifton, Albany — not a call center in another state.
  • Numbers on the website before the sales call.
  • Dedicated truck so the hire is not in a 3-week shared load.
  • Warehouse if the listing falls through.
  • Google 5.0 on 125 reviews. Licenses on every invoice.

Send the hire to us

HR: email the offer letter benefit line and the employee’s phone. Employee: call the website line so we know it is this page.
